Plastered Cats

…darn those cats

That Damned 100 Book Meme

I really tried to resist it, but the flesh is weak. Still, I’ve done it on my terms…by just listing the ones I’ve read.

The Lord of the Rings – JRR Tolkien
Harry Potter series – JK Rowling
To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
The Bible
Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte
1984 – George Orwell
Great Expectations – Charles Dickens
Little Women – Louisa M Alcott
Complete Works of Shakespeare
The Hobbit – JRR Tolkien
Gone With The Wind – Margaret Mitchell
The Great Gatsby – F Scott Fitzgerald
Grapes of Wrath – John Steinbeck
Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll
The Wind in the Willows – Kenneth Grahame
David Copperfield – Charles Dickens
Winnie the Pooh – AA Milne
Animal Farm – George Orwell
Lord of the Flies – William Golding
A Tale Of Two Cities – Charles Dickens
Brave New World – Aldous Huxley
Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck
Lolita – Vladimir Nabokov
Count of Monte Cristo – Alexandre Dumas
On The Road – Jack Kerouac
Moby Dick – Herman Melville
Oliver Twist – Charles Dickens
Dracula – Bram Stoker
A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens
Charlotte’s Web – EB White
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Heart of Darkness – Joseph Conrad
Watership Down – Richard Adams
The Three Musketeers – Alexandre Dumas
Hamlet – William Shakespeare
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Roald Dahl

Please note that I read some of these books during my first two years of high school, 40 years ago, and so remember almost nothing about them.

Also, this list is rather goofy. There were very recent novels, but no Huckleberry Finn? No Frankenstien? No The Yearling? No Treasure Island? No Call of the Wild? No Gulliver’s Travels? No Hans Christian Anderson or Brother Grimm? No Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett or Agatha Christie? No Jules Verne or H.G. Welles?

Rather sucky list, I say.

The suckiness of these lists adds to my ability to resist them….
